Making Match Day Bigger

Making Match Day Bigger

Screens have fundamentally changed the shape of match days.

Fans arrive earlier, stay longer, and gather in places clubs never used to reach - fan zones, watch parties, hospitality suites, living rooms on the other side of the world. The 90 minutes is still the main event, but it's now surrounded by hours where fans are still emotionally invested, socially connected, and primed for shared experiences.

That's exactly where Piing comes in. Our games for crowds turn downtime into fun time -  connecting screens,  creating moments fans actually want to be part of, before, during and after the match.

Outside the Stadium

Excitement builds in the hours before kick-off as fans make their way to the stadium, sometimes hours before kick-off. Atletico Madrid and their commercial partner Riyadh Air took advantage of this by presenting Piing’s games in a pop-up outside the Metropolitano. The results speak for themselves with 1,700 fans playing the PenKick game over two hours and a 41% data collection rate.

In the Fan Zone

At Brighton & Hove Albion, Piing has helped transform the new ‘Terrace’ fanzone into an interactive matchday experience. Every matchday, thousands of fans play a variety of Piing games - including PenKick, Quiiz, Footy Rebound and Footy Racer, turning pre-match downtime into high-energy engagement. And its not just home game days, fans can enjoy the games during watch parties on away days and other major events.

What’s more, the games have become a new, high value piece of sponsorship inventory which Brighton were able to offer to their partner Amex.

In Bowl

Piing games cater for every size of crowd including a packed stadium. Our work with Charlotte FC which began with sponsor Ally and continues in the current season with club partner Thompson is a great example of this. Running across 18 home games, our PenKick game gave fans a simple, competitive way to participate together creating moments that fans and brands rave about.

The activation drove engagement at a significant scale, generating more than 52,000 players, with growing participation rates across the season. By combining mass-participation with sponsor integration, PenKick helped turn downtime into an engaging branded experience that strengthened both fan interaction and partner visibility.

Around the World

Piing games are not limited to those present at the stadium - they can also be extended to fans at home or whenever they are watching the game. One great example of this is the Adidas Quiiz that Piing powered at halftime during the Euros 2024 tournament as well as Germany vs Netherlands match at the Allianz Arena in Munich. During the latter, over 8,000 fans in the Allianz played the Quiiz and another 2,000 played along at the same time from home via the Adidas app - connecting fans from wherever they were enjoying the action.

Downtime is the ideal moment for interactive fan games. Fans are already engaged, present, and looking for entertainment while they wait. Piing helps clubs extend engagement throughout the matchday, boosting participation, atmosphere, and sponsor visibility during otherwise unused moments. With fully customisable games, clubs and partners can create branded experiences tailored to their audience and commercial goals, making interaction feel like a natural part of the matchday experience.
